I have received notification that fedex have a cheque in my name with security keeping code SCT/0433/L. I have to pay 195GBP to fedex but in the account of the accountant. This really smell like a scam. Can you please verify this for me?

Cyril

Hi Cyril

A member of our customer services team has been in contact with our Fedex contact. They have said:

"I have forwarded this on to our Customer Services and Security Managers

There is no doubt that this is a scam, however we will make further enquiries."

I will continue to update you on this as we get more information from Fedex.

Warm Regards

Hi Cyril

We have recieved this further communication from FeDex:

"Dear Cyril,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, this is a fraudulent e-mail scam using the trusted name of FedEx whereby the fraudsters use our trusted name to try and give some credence to their scam. The E-Crime Unit at New Scotland Yard are helping us to try and close these e-mail addresses/website scams down and in order to do so they need the original e-mail which is not to be forwarded to them but sent to them as an attachment.

If you still have the original e-mail, can you please save it as a file, then open a new e-mail and address it to Stephen.truick@met.police.uk Then on the menu shown at the top of the page (File Edit View Insert etc), select Insert and then item, then find the original e-mail that was sent to you and click on it, it should then attach the e-mail on to your e-mail to Steve. Steve is the officer that is helping us to combat these fraudsters. There is information which the police need in the headers which will be saved if the e-mail is sent in this format.

Kind regards

Colin Troughton
Senior Security Specialist"
