Announcement – STL Distribution & Zondervan Distribution Agreement

STL Distribution is pleased to announce an agreement for continued distribution of Zondervan in the UK

STL Distribution has been the wholesale distributor for Zondervan in the UK for the past 15 years and is pleased to announce a continuity agreement has been reached, securing the on-going future of this important partnership.

The STL Distribution Supply Chain team are now working closely with Zondervan to bring stock into the Carlisle Warehouse to improve availability as soon as possible.

Ken Munro, CEO STL Distribution said, ‘We are very pleased to be able to continue this fruitful partnership and are looking forward to building on the success of the past 15 years. This ensures Zondervan products are available to the UK retail trade and can be ordered through our same day despatch service.’

Tracy Danz, Zondervan Vice President for Product Sales said, ‘We are happy to be represented by the same sales staff that has done admirably over the past 15 years. It is a critical time in UK bookselling and we believe this is the very best route to market for our titles.’

The STL Distribution Area Sales Managers are on the road and will be calling on you to present the spring list, including all the Zondervan new titles.

Up-to-date information on availability of products from Zondervan and other suppliers will be posted on this blog.

Kind Regards,
STL Distribution Blog Team

Good to hear progress is being made at re-establishing these contracts!

Forgive me for returning to this worn-out groove, but some months ago, there was a long discussion re problems in pricing with Zondervan products- items with (say) £6.99 pre-printed on the book being charged at £8.99. This was previously resolved by being able to claim back the difference. However, my latest attempt to claim these differences back was met with the response that 'This agreement had been withdrawn'.

Perhaps 'New-STL' & Zondervan could confirm they will now credit these differences until the 'old' stock works out of the system?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Glo,

Thanks for the query.

The bulk of Zondervan products with UK printed pricing, were stickered over the past 18 months, however, there is some residual stock in the system where stickers had not been applied - returns from events are a factor in this.

Zondervan agreed to stop printing UK prices on the back of books to help ensure the bulk of stock was sorted and credited for, but could not guarantee all stock.

Richard McChesney will be in touch with you to discuss this particular occurrence.

Kind regards,

Why is the business of incorrectly priced products still an issue? The Booksellers Association published a straightforward set of guidelines back in 2005: Code of Practice - Price Stickers.

We discussed this at some length just over a year ago — Zondervan, STL and Price Stickers: and the price is…?. Surely it shouldn't be necessary to have to deal with it on a case by case basis like this?

Can I urge you, please, to study the BA guidelines and adopt the Code of Practice? Or if you are not prepared to adopt that code of practice, explain why not?

Thank you.

In fairness, Richard McChesney has contacted me to ask that any instances of 'incorrect' pricing be reported directly to him. He assures me this is a residual problem, which STL understood had been sorted in line with the various codes. It's possible the items I have been picking up are stock that has been returned from bookstalls etc. And no doubt, someone will scurry off to the warehouse to correct the problem as soon as I email?!

In the grand scheme of things, it's a very minor distraction....
